Jonathan Cully, an active committee member in SOL, digital expert and researcher, has two exhibitions on in Lucan Library for Nov 2023.
From 23rd October to 10th November, the entrance lobby of Lucan Library will host an exhibition of Lost Lucan which are digital reconstructions of real medieval buildings around Lucan that are no longer extant. Jonathan researched these ruins and sites in enormous depth in order to get as close as possible to a realistic digital reconstruction of these lost monuments. This is a fascinating exhibition for the local history enthusiast and techie alike. See the reconstruction of Aderrig Church by Jonathan below, based on a recent photograph of the ruins by Paul Butler.
Following this, for three weeks from the 11th of November, the (military and family history research) Lucan Memorial Campaign will then be on exhibition. The Lucan Memorial Campaign exhibition is a temporary “pop-up” memorial, based on the extensive research carried out by Jonathan to date, that tells the stories of individual Lucanian’s who lost their lives in military and police service.
The Lucan Memorial Campaign includes service in all armies, all allegiances and all affiliations and seeks to include the full range of real stories of Lucan people, from times’ past. See one of the memorial badges created by Jonathan to accompany the forensic research he has done into each life story, below.

The long term goal of the memorial campaign is to generate awareness for future creation of a permanent local memorial in Lucan Village.
