Guided tour of medieval Stacgory church & graveyard, Mill Lane, Palmerstown, with “the Pink Ladies +1”.
Free event (local charge for tea/coffee if wanted), all welcome. Coach House café, Palmerstown, is accessible for wheelchair-users, but the historical walk is not.
Join us between 11-11.45 for an informal cuppa (pay individually) and chat for SOL members in the historical Coach House Café and gift shop, prior to our guided historical walk. The gift shop contains some locally produced crafts, so you can even pick up some Christmas gifts while there. The Coach House is an 18th century former coach house on what was the main road from Dublin to Galway.
At 12pm we meet with Alan Hayes and the Pink Ladies to be guided down historical Mill Lane, (the original Palmerstown village, with evidence of settlement back to prehistoric times, up to its industrial past of mustard, linen and oil mills) to visit the restored medieval Stacgory Church and graveyard. This will be a great chance for us to hear first-hand how the “Pink Ladies +1” group worked to bring their church and graveyard from being totally overgrown and neglected, to its current state of restoration, as well as getting funding for historical information-boards for the area.
